You did great for "taking a chance." Looks like he received his CIB with the 7th Division in Korea. May be missing some ribbon devices (e.g., subsequent award knots on the Good Conduct and the scroll on the VN Campaign), but a really nice coat overall.

Thank you Kurt.

Looks like the devices were never attached to the ribbons.

Maybe the tailor doesnt have one.

Good score for only 10e. You do need to reverse the collar brass, don't know how they got on backwards like that.

After you kill the moths it would be good to pull all the metal insignia and have it cleaned and pressed.

Can we see a close up of the DIs on the shoulder loops. It appears to be a different kind of Non Color BearingDistinctive Unit Insignia. According to TIOH this would be the NCBU DI for the 6th Armyapproved for Sixth United States Army on 6 September 1968.

@Patches

Here are a closeup of the DUI - its the DUI of the VII Corps

The Left Patch is the VII Corps and the right one is the 7th Division Shoulder Patch

Which DUI must he wear on his Jacket?

Its my First US Uniform.

@spectre

Thank you, yeah i saw that to. Lookes like the Collar brass were long time in this Order onthe Uniform - but i will put them back in the right order.

@Capt.Confederacy

Thank you! I just buyd the Uniform because it has those Custom Ribbon bars. The Sterling CIB waas a nice suprice to. :D

Greetings

Stefan

Interesting uniform. He went in at the end of WW2 and served on occupation duty. He served multiple tours in Korea and Vietnam over 27-29 years (possibly 1945-1973 or so), yet his highest award as an E-8 is a single GCM.

Yes i Saw that to. But in my opinion the tailor who made the bar Maybe didnt have a device for the GCM and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

If you look closly on the ribbon bar photo you can see that there are no holes in those ribbons

After you kill the moths it would be good to pull all the metal insignia and have it cleaned and pressed.

Except that you are risking destroying the custom ribbons bars by doing that, especially having it pressed. I've seen a number of uniforms that people did this too and the ribbons fell apart.

Get a stiff bristled clothes brush and put the hose attachment on your vacuum. Brush off the dust/dirt and suck it up with the vacuum, but stay away from the ribbon bars.
