ocsfollowme Posted April 9, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2015 So I picked this up. It is mint on card and dated 1966. However, it appears that it is a remake of an older patch that has the colors reversed. Does anyone know what the insignia depicts? Is it the same unit or just a novelty patch from 1966 and when it came out much earlier? http://www.ebay.com/itm/361155487288?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

firefighter Posted April 9, 2015 Share #4 Posted April 9, 2015 Cool patch.I don't think they wore chenille squadron patches in the 60's.
Teamski Posted April 9, 2015 Share #5 Posted April 9, 2015 You also have to remember that GEMSCO also made non-military insignia for school bands and things like that. The devil might be non-military. -Ski
vintageproductions Posted April 9, 2015 Share #6 Posted April 9, 2015 It has always been thought that this was a USN squadron, but can't remember which one.
Salvage Sailor Posted August 18, 2018 Share #7 Posted August 18, 2018 So I picked this up. It is mint on card and dated 1966. Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 10.59.25 PM.jpg However, it appears that it is a remake of an older patch that has the colors reversed. Does anyone know what the insignia depicts? I've always felt that this is not a USN patch but is a generic decorative patch.
Randy Posted August 18, 2018 Share #8 Posted August 18, 2018 1966 is not the date made, it's a copyright for the packaging design. Randy
