They are as real as the knives they were drawn from.An original knife as used(illustrated).in many cases you see they are attributed to the collector(s) who provided them to be drawn

In some ways they are better than a picture; I've found that the lettering and dimensions are spot on in most cases, while a picture often distorts the markings.

Without Cole's Book. most of us would have known little to nothing about US knives, bayonets, and machetes. He was about the only source we had for lot of years. He took the painstaking time to draw, and catagorize US knives. I wish I had that book about 12 years earlier, when most of the WW2 knives available were in the $5 ranges. If I had known more, I'd have bought more. All that said, if you want to compliment Cole's work, buy Mike Silvey's book, "Knives of the US Military in WW2". Silvey's book is a compilation of color photos of issue, shop made WW2 knives. The books compliment each other. Camillus, read and study the book, you will learn so much. Enough said! SKIP

I have a Cole 9 knuckle knife I had questions about and sent it to Howard for authentication. When I talked to him, he was a quite a gentleman. He tried to buy my knife but I had just acquired it and was still quite found of it myself. He gave me a copy of his 4th edition book and autographed it for me.
