Imperial M3 Blade Mark

Ive had many Imperials over the years but dont recall having one marked like this . I know Imperial marks can vary in depth/clarity substantially . What I am wondering about is the placement of the mark in relation to the guard . Im showing it against the "typical" mark on the knife with spacers for comparison . Everything else seems proper . Anyone else have one marked like this or have any comment ? Thanks guys .

byf41- I see what you're saying, but there are more Imperial M3s available, than all other makers combined. Blade marked versions, in my opinion, are the most common. Might be just a worn stamp, combined w/ bad placement. If it was one of the more rare M3s, it would be a concern, but not an Imperial. I have 4 guard marked, 3blade marked, a dual stamp, and an M3/M4. Imperials are everywhere. Check around and see if there are others stamped the same way. SKIP

Could it possibly be an earlier blade marked I see it has black spacers and you mostly the reddish brown spacers I think I remember reading that the black ones are harder to find just a thought

Just checked my book by Coninglio and Laden to and it shows the blade Mark close to the guard just like this one it's on the early black spacer ones and then it was moved out further on the later blade marked ones with no spacers.

Nice early M3 congrats
