USdog Posted March 30, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2015 This group recently sold on ebay. I was bidding but didn't get it unfortunately. Was anyone here the lucky buyer? Any ways, congrats to the new owner! http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=321703609623&globalID=EBAY-US

smwinter207 Posted March 30, 2015 Share #7 Posted March 30, 2015 As a side note, I was looking at a WWII Navy KIA file at the archives, and his extra dog tag was stuck in the folder. The staff practically s**t themselves. Anyway, not sure why they did not put it back in the file folder..

USdog Posted March 30, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted March 30, 2015 Yes they are. I've only seen a couple of KIA Iwo tags. I've got a KIA Indy tag which I've posted here and god knows how rare that is. He was part of the marine detachment of 39 marines and only 9 survived. USdog Posted March 30, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted March 30, 2015 Wow..look at that tetanus date too..crazy stuff Phil, I noticed that too. It was made right before he shipped off for Iwo! Probably wasn't one of the tags he wore there though unless it was sent back.
FSBE Posted March 31, 2015 Share #14 Posted March 31, 2015 Phil, I noticed that too. It was made right before he shipped off for Iwo! Probably wasn't one of the tags he wore there though unless it was sent back. Actually from what I've seen with my 4th Marine Division archive files, they shipped out in January of 1945. Could very well been something he carried there! Killer dog tag group, too. Someone must be feeling lucky! John
