Help With Dress SNCO Belt Plate/Buckle

I have the same buckle from a group I have also. He was a china Marine and in WW2 , Korea, So I do know they used them in Korea at least ,Maybe you are right that they used them in WW2 all the way up to korea. That is my 2 cents, Most WW2 dress blues photos I see ,They are wearing the polish flat brass buckle with white leather belt.

I think we are missing a point here. Yes, this buckle was worn during WWII. However, it was worn only by NCO's, while the flat buckle was worn by enlisted personnel. Jack

T. You have a legit Staff Noncommissioned Officer waist plate, used from WW2 thru 56, at which time the current enlisted emblem replaced this M37 design. Non-rates used a plain plate, NCO's use a plain plate with emblem and no other design elements. s/f D.

Thanks very much! That confirms it would be correct for a Sgt Major's uniform of that period that I am restoring.
