TLeo Posted March 29, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2015 Am I correct that this is the dress buckle used WW2 through late 40's or even into the early 50's?
Raidercollector Posted March 29, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 29, 2015 Tleo I have the same buckle from a group I have also. He was a china Marine and in WW2 , Korea, So I do know they used them in Korea at least ,Maybe you are right that they used them in WW2 all the way up to korea. That is my 2 cents, Most WW2 dress blues photos I see ,They are wearing the polish flat brass buckle with white leather belt. Nick

Jumpin Jack Posted March 29, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 29, 2015 I think we are missing a point here. Yes, this buckle was worn during WWII. However, it was worn only by NCO's, while the flat buckle was worn by enlisted personnel. Jack
teufelhunde.ret Posted March 29, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 29, 2015 T. You have a legit Staff Noncommissioned Officer waist plate, used from WW2 thru 56, at which time the current enlisted emblem replaced this M37 design. Non-rates used a plain plate, NCO's use a plain plate with emblem and no other design elements. s/f D.

That confirms it would be correct for a Sgt Major's uniform of that period that I am restoring.
