I have had this jacket for a while now, back in my days when I was finishing up my docent training on board the USS Midway (never finished my final walk through due to my basic training date coming sooner than planned).

This is named. Reno RD. It has the service number, appears to be a social, but I am not sure if the person is still living so I am not posting it. I purchased this off of eBay back around 2008.

5x great patches on this gem. 2x Golf of Tonkin type yacht/hunting patches.

The real gem is the V-2 CVA-41 patch...it measures about 11" in width.

USS Midway was designated CV"A"-41 on 1 October 1952.

I will be getting rid of all of my USS Midway items soon.

Here is a scan. Hard to get it flat on the scanner. "NF" on the tail. I really love the green swamp monster.

Tail code NF was on the Midway in 1973 this is from WiKi:

In 1973, CVW-5 embarked on USS Midway (CVA-41) to become part of the first carrier/air wing team permanently forward deployed, to Yokosuka, Japan. The wing completed 111 continuous days on station in the North Arabian Sea in 1984, which the wing's official site describes as 'guarding the Straits of Hormuz and guaranteeing the continued flow of vital oil to Japan and Western Europe.

Also I think the plane is an A7 Corsair not an A8

Thats what I wanted to look at, the tail code on the F-8.

VFP-63 Det 3 flew off the Midway on her '71 & '72 WESTPAC cruises.They flew RF-8G's.

They had 2 combat losses on their '72 cruise.
