439th Signal Battalion Posted March 15, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 15, 2015 ...and into the duffle bag ready to come home. These jungle boots were worn for a full combat tour by a close friend of mine from Delta Company and Echo Company Recon, 3-7th Infantry, 199th LIB from 69-70. This pair, which is salty and muddy as you would expect from an 11B, were worn from issue at the 90th Replacement Center until orders were received to go to the rear and prepare for out-processing and DEROS in late September, 1970. No attempt was ever made to polish or clean them since this individual spent all his time in the field and the jungle boot, as many know, became a symbol of status and time in-country. bellasilva Posted March 15, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 15, 2015 Incredible. I swear if I didn't collect dog tags I'd probably collect these combat worn VN boots. There was another example not too long ago from a member who got a pair from his VN veteran friend with the 4th ID. I'd love to see some more pictures

sgtdorango Posted March 17, 2015 Share #8 Posted March 17, 2015 Wow they are so worn they lok like dessert boots!...man i used to think the well worn combat used helmet was the perfect icon for the combat soldiers but these kind of used boots are right up there with the helmets and have just as cool a story to tell....mike
