Thanks. I know when I pulled out the yardlong and saw what was pictured, I almost had a hormonal change B) And that was before I got into the box. BTW the rolled up yardlong is a camp picture of Guantanamo Bay circa about 1909

Love the Sandino pic! Looks like I will echo what everyone else is saying! Who knew abercrombie did photos!

 

The group was found just south of you in Colorado Springs

I will make a guess and say I think #39 was taken in Hawaii in the early 20's and a quick check of Ancestry confirms he was there....I have seen those steps before and Pearl Harbor comes to mind.

Wow! Somewhere out there are medals and uniforms waiting to be reunited with this fantastic group.

 

I know..His nephew had no idea what happened to the rest of his Uncle's stuff. Unfortunately it was probably discarded and the images and documents kept because it didn't take up much room.

-Mississippi en route to Vera Crus Mex. Landing in Vera Cruz Apr 27 1914, service with the Army Apr 30, 1914 to???

-Ashore Guantanamo Bay

-Re appointed Sergeant

-Nicaragua, Philippines, USS Saratoga, USS Brooklyn, etc

-Appointed 1st Sgt on Saratoga and Brooklyn

-Recommended for Gunner

-Discharged to enroll as 2nd Lt (Provisional) Class 4 USMC Reserve

-Discharged as 1LT 2 Oct 1919 Warrant as 1st Sgt 3 Oct 1919-Applied for retention as 1st Lt (see end of 1st enlisted)

FYI - In addition to his GCM as noted he also held at least a 1st Nic Campaign #120, a Mexican Campaign # unknown, a WWI Victory with three bars and probably a 2nd Nic.Wonderful grouping. Semper Fi........Bobgee
