bayonetman Posted March 4, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2015 While cleaning out some material, I ran into these two photos and thought I would post them for any that might be interested. Hard to believe these days, but back around the late 1800s and into the early 1900s there were para-militlary groups for boys called the Boys Brigades sponsored mostly by Churches. These two photos are of one such group. The banner in the center of the upper picture can be partially read in the original, but when the photo is lightened to make it clearer, it washes out. The top two words are unreadable, but under that is Presbyterian / Church / Pittsburg / Pa.
38Driver Posted March 4, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 4, 2015 Apparently there was some confusion about turning the other cheek and about face!
stealthytyler Posted March 6, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 6, 2015 I would love to colorize these for fun.
Bob Hudson Posted March 6, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 6, 2015 The United Boys Brigade of America appears to have been most active in Pennsylvania. Here's some articles about their activities: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/177443-span-am-kia-family-sword-model-1860/?p=1366196
