On the underside of the flap, in ink, are the initials, rank, name and serial number of the officer to whom it belonged. Major Nels O. Berggren, serial# 0-486176. I was able to find in a Google search a Nels o. Berggren born Oct. 3 1906, Died Dec 9 1993. Attained the rank of Major in the US Army Air Corp.WW2. Buried at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola Florida Naval Air Station. However, I am not savvy enough to match the serial # to the name that I found in the Google search.
