Here's what I got at the SOS. The MAW uniform grouping came with condoms, a comb, and handkerchief(all 3 of these items were found in pockets), a pisscutter, and visor cap(the seller got it from the vets daughter). The dress blues without ribbons is 1924-1925 dated that was reissued right before WW2(the seller got it from the vets estate). The jungle first aid kit came with Frazzers solution.

Here's a few picks of some things I brought home....

A named 513th Ike with the vets photo and info inside. (The seller had no idea).

A nice (stripped) 101st Ike jacket - (still looking for the owner)

A killer Au Lion Knuckle knife

A 13th AB group. I've since learned he was transferred to the 517th PIR

A nice 513th Pocket patch

Some nice overseas caps, which are both identified (one with a photo)

And some nice wings.... (one was found at the adjacent gun show)

I'll start with my beginning of my airborne oval collection. I'm hoping at least a few of these are good ones but I'm no expert on these. Any opinions on these are welcome by you guys in the know. Did you guys see very many good airborne ovals at this years show? Maybe because I was looking for them but I didn't find as many as I thought I would. Just wondering what you guys saw. Here's what I found to start me off.image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Wow, great finds being posted!  I finally got unpacked and organized and some photos taken.  So here is an overall picture of most of my finds for now.  I'll try and post these in a new thread individually and in more detail later today.

By the way, great seeing old buddies and also meeting new forum members at the show this year.

Thanks

Troy

Troy,

Guess I didn't realize you had acquired so many at the show. You already know which one I like best.

My shop buddy Mark was unable to attend, and my "table helper" was MIA 90% of the time, so I didn't get out and about much, but I still managed to find a neat WW1 window banner with a gold star pinned on for my upcoming book, and a couple regimental and guidon unit flags (we'll keep those just between us...).

It was great to see all of the USMF members!  Sadly, I left my USMF badge in the car so it usually took some conversation to ut a face with a name!

Jerry,

Great WWI Banner.  There was a guy walking all over the show asking every table if they had one of those.  Was that you or maybe your helper?

Mike, actually the two helmets on the bottom are one set, M1C and AB Liner, I just wanted to show the decals on the liner that went with the fieldjacket.  That little grouping is turning out to be an interesting research and history.  I hope to post later.

I did very well at SOS.  I picked up a CW period SH&G marked US 1860 Staff & Field Officer sword and an Ancient & Honorable Artillery Company saber along with a few other bits and pieces.  I also bought a US M1816 socket bayonet and a M1835 socket bayonet, both complete with the pattern 1839 leather scabbards.  It was a good show for me.

It may have been me your talking about asking about the gold star son in service banner. Been looking for a good star banner for years don't know how I missed that one. Jerry's is a little nicer then what I'm looking for so it went to the rite Jerry. Plus I'm sure his was more expensive then what I'm looking to spend on one. Now that I'm thinking about it I don't think I ask for one at ever table maybe that's why I missed it in the first place LOL.

Nope, he is my competition...
(there is always another guy)

Actually he is a nice guy with a great collection that he is kind of to let me use for the book too.  The only times I got away was for potty breaks.

Funny!  Yes there is always "Another guy", but as you know with us helmet collectors there are tons of us and its like an Easter egg hunt on Easter morning among competitive brothers, running around the show looking for the good ones (helmets that is)!   :o

I also found this WWII trench art item. It's an Italian canteen from a 65th Division vet.  I am supposed to be getting some paperwork soon on the vet.
