Rakkasan187 Posted March 1, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 1, 2015 56th Medical Battalion The mountain refers to Mt Rainier in Washington state. The home of Fort Lewis (Joint Base Lewis McCord now) where the unit was activated in WW2. The unit was in Sicily, Rome, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe and during the 1st Gulf War, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. jhoward96 Posted March 1, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted March 1, 2015 Thank you. That's what I was thinking. I was questioning the identity of this one because all the other 56th Medical Battalion badges I have seen have a single "mountain top" and this one has 3 mountain tops. Wasn't sure if that made a difference.
