We are planning a trip to France and would like to see Omaha Beach. Any suggestions on where to stay and places not to miss? We might be in the area for 3 days. Thanks, Ken

The museum in Caen is really good, the american cemetery overlooking the beaches, and Point Duhoc is a good place with a lot of untouched ground with bunkers and bomb craters.

St. Mere Eglise Church is extremely emotional. Pews were used as operating tables. My relaties visited and broke down when they saw how well cared for it was, as well as the cemetery...

The new Colleville-Omaha Museum right on the roundabout access to the US Cemetery is a must. The Dead Man's corner museum should have its extension open in June. The Utah Beach museum is also a must-see. For lodging, and the best cuisine around, check Les Divettes in Ste Honorine, right over Omaha Beach..

The last I knew there were military shops in St. Mere Eglise and other locations in Normandy.

From what I understand be prepared for sticker shock. I believe some of their stock comes from elsewhere

(not necessarily Normandy) and is priced for the military history tourists that come to the area. At least some of their on-line

prices have been pretty healthy.

Here is one well known vendor I've dealt with, a Brit named Andrew Butler:

Some of Andrew's wares are admitted reproductions, but I'd love to see his shop just the same.
