Tiger Tricorn boonie

I saw this boonie and I had to have it as it is so unique. You can wear it as a boonie , a cowboy and a tricorn. It ended up coming from a vintage clothes shop in my home state. They had no info on the original owner. Because of it being a tricorn and a possible link to the 199th, I talked to Robby (439th Signal Battalion). He told me tricorns were specific to the 2-3d Infantry, 199th LIB from 67-68. He had not seen a tiger one . I believe it is Japanese made but what I would like to know from the tiger gurus, was this pattern used in the 67-68 timeframe ? The 3 additional snaps were sewn on to the hat and definitely appear to be period done. They are covered with green verdigris. I would not think anyone other than a 199th LIB guy would have done it As mythbusters say "It's plausible" Any comments welcome.

Regards, Mitch

A 3rd Infantry (Old Guard) tricorn cowboy hat came up for sale recently - there was a picture of it being worn in Vietnam. It was very similar to this, wonder if this is related

Thanks guys for all the great comments. I looked through as many tri-corn photos as I could find but unfortunately I could not find a tiger one. The search continues. Thanks for looking.

It is a neat item and a good find. Do I see added snaps? If so, no big deal as whoever had the hat, they can do whatever pleases them. It's still a great hat to have in your collection.
