Khaki cotton breeches c. 1907 - 1908 (Spec. 846)

US Victory Museum

On November 16th 1906, a single specification No. 846 was written

to describe khaki colored cotton breeches for both mounted troops,
and dismounted (foot) troops. This specification would remain
until March 17th 1910 when spec. 1058 for olive drab breeches
superseded it.

There does exist an intermediate specification; however, it is
for trousers, not breeches.

This first pair have stamped within:

C. Kenyon Co.

Jun 25, 1907

This company is found within the "Directory of American Military
Goods Dealers & Makers 1785-1915 Combined Edition" They were a
New York (City) based manufacturer of clothing that had numerous
military clothing contracts from S.A.W. thru WWI. They ceased
to be listed as a business in 1933.

Dear Mario:

Both trousers are marked in the same area. It is stamped on the INSIDE right pocket such

that it can only be observed if the pocket is flipped over.

Please note:

NOT the inside of the right pocket, but inside the trousers with the right hanging pocket flipped

over so as to make the opposite side visible.
