I think you might enjoy a family piece that I'm hoping to inherit in the near future.  Pvt John Collins was assigned to Co C 27th Infantry.  His job was to assist and protect the Chaplain.  The MOS or military occupational skill Chaplain Assistant or 56M would not be created until Dec 28, 1909.  I had no idea about this until my father pulled out a letter of recommendation from the Chaplain about a year ago.  I enlisted in the Army as a Chaplain Assistant in 2007.  I'll have to find the other letter that speaks of Pvt Collins serving under CPT Pershing.
