JohnnieDavis Posted July 13, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2008 Hey all, I was working at a farm up the road, and I asked my friend if he had any old militaria just laying around. He brought me three old bayonets. One was this bayo, then an old Japanese bayo, and another one I'm not sure what the other is. It looks German, so I'm just going on germandaggers.com to post there. This M1 Bayo is an AFH not cut down. It needs new grips, but other than that, it's a good one. JD
Johan Willaert Posted July 13, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2008 Nice one... Why would you put new grips on it? I would keep it as is, only adds character... I bought a M1905 with wooden grips about 20 years ago. One of the grips had cracked and is missing a chip. I thought about replacing them for a long time, but finally I didn't. I'd like to think that not everything which was used in 2 WW was still perfect...

Hillbilly1918 Posted July 13, 2008 Share #6 Posted July 13, 2008 Looks like part of the hilt is bent back Yep the hilt is bent back, Pretty common on those bayonets. It made it easier to unsheathe it. I wouldn't try to bend it back unless you heated it, it might break it off if you bend it without heating it.
