Tonomachi Posted January 27, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2015 I picked this up at the flea market and was wondering if anyone can tell me from what era this solider is from based on his uniform and handgun. There were two other oval bubble frames of his parents which I didn't purchased but photographed (see Post 2). The seller didn't speak much English and I don't speak Spanish but from what I gathered these three framed photos were purchased together at an estate in Northern California. The parents look like they have African American facial features. Unfortunately no name.

RustyCanteen Posted January 27, 2015 Share #6 Posted January 27, 2015 The photo would probably have been taken during WWI, but I have no idea what the pistol is. It seems both the pistol and belt were likely photographer's props used to give more of a 'military' appearance. For the record though, the pistol looks like it has a percussion cylinder, but the back looks more like a hammerless model of some kind? It could be a European made pistol. Nice saves!
