268th C.A. Posted January 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 21, 2015 Hello Everyone, I have had this Parka for a good while. I remember picking it up at a yard sale, It has the liner inside as well. I had originally thought this was USMC, but after looking thru Shelby Stanton's book Army uniforms of the Korean War. There it was on page 51. Showing an ROK troop wearing one. It describes the waist belt as "intrinsic" I can see why mine is missing! Its a nice parka, minor cuff wear. And the Deer blood on the right sleeve. I don't know if it will come out or not. I may try to clean it in warmer weather. Its HEAVY. I know it was colder than a well diggers butt in Korea. Thought I'd share it. Oh sorry about the camera kitten, every time I moved her she climbed back on. I said oh what the heck....

'Flage Guy Posted January 21, 2015 Share #5 Posted January 21, 2015 And what pile of surplus stuff is complete without a cat to enjoy it? The fierce Surplus Tiger stalks the Packboard Jungle...

The US jackets from the 1950's and early 60's are more expensive due to the use of the real coyote fur. But I have heard that the earlier parka with the real cat fur was rather rare. 268th C.A. Posted January 21, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted January 21, 2015 LOL! on the cat fur, mine has it now. Does that make it rare. My kitten will sit on my Vietnam mannequin's Helmet or on my WW1 doughboy, she sits on the model 1910 pack on his shoulders. I think cats love that web gear smell....You know it. When we walk in a shop that's the first thing we do is take a deep breath, Yep its in here somewhere, I smell it. Start looking......
'Flage Guy Posted January 22, 2015 Share #8 Posted January 22, 2015 That's one of the things I miss about the old surplus stores: "That Smell". There was an entire humorous thread on "That Smell" on the Forum some time ago, but I don't know if it survived the revamping of the site.
