M1Garandy Posted January 11, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2015 I have a pile of interesting bits enroute to me including an M1 bayonet, a NOS M1918 mounted cartridge belt, some TM's and other stuff. With this pile of stuff is a broken/incomplete USN MK1 training bayonet. The grip scales and all the latch works are missing and the barrel ring is broken off. The blade was also painted silver. I know that LOTS of these bayonets were/are broken. Are any parts out there or is my best bet to find a USN MK1 with a broken blade and strip it for parts? Thanks. SARGE Posted January 11, 2015 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2015 This is a common problem with these plastic bayonets. IMHO the muzzle rings are not repairable and the most common damage problem. I would sell it as is or use it for parts.
M1Garandy Posted January 12, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted January 12, 2015 I would sell it as is or use it for parts. Perhaps I can find one with a broken blade and swap the parts over to my intact blade. I'm not sure how optimistic of a plan that is but I don't see too many of these around in any condition.
