Spathologist Posted July 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2008 I've never seen one before, did Boyt have a contract? 1917 dated, with initials G.H.
SARGE Posted July 11, 2008 Share #2 Posted July 11, 2008 Varangian, I have never seen a Boyt marked knot like this. The knot looks perfectly legitimate to me from the photos and I can't imagine anyone adding these markings. Very nice! George
Spathologist Posted July 11, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted July 11, 2008 I'd never seen one either, and I bought it thinking it might be a fake, but after getting it I think it's genuine. The leather feels old, though still pliable and more so after a treatment with Pecards, and it has verdigris in all the right places. But then I've never seen a RIA knot dated after 1915, so maybe they were contracted out...
doyler Posted July 11, 2008 Share #4 Posted July 11, 2008 I couldnt tell you on the knot but they did make the 45 auto holsters in WW1. RON
noworky Posted July 12, 2008 Share #5 Posted July 12, 2008 Fantastic looking knot and looks very legit I wished it were on one of my 1913s!
Spathologist Posted July 12, 2008 Author Share #6 Posted July 12, 2008 Apparently all of Boyt's military contract records were destroyed in a fire in 1968, so I'm out of luck there in tracking down the contract.
