manchu57 Posted December 18, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2014 I was just wondering why this Dog Tag has no serial number on It. Would like other members thoughts on it, any ideas?
bellasilva Posted December 18, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 18, 2014 Interesting..my only thought is that it could be one of those "send away" dog tags for children that were popular back in the 40's and 50's. Granted yes it has a tetanus date but that theoretically could have been something the parent/child wanted to add. I say this because I've literally never seen a WWII, or any dog tag for that matter, without a service number or SS#. From another perspective this could just be mistake by the quartermaster and was never issued. I'm really not 100% sure but those are my ideas
manchu57 Posted December 18, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted December 18, 2014 Thats what I thought until I saw the tenuous shot date and P for religion. When I compare it to a WWII tag it meets the regulations.
bellasilva Posted December 18, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 18, 2014 It definitely does look like a completely legitimate one so that's a head scratcher. Now that I think about it, I wonder if that's not for a civilian contractor. Notice there's no blood type, coupled with no service number makes me think it's a possibility
