doyler Posted December 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 17, 2014 Is there a patent date on the spring clip or date on the leather
oreotsi Posted December 18, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted December 18, 2014 There's no markings on the clip.Looks like there could have been something on the leather, but it's unreadable.Do you guys know when this would have been used and for which pistol? Seems pre WW2 to my untrained eye.
world war I nerd Posted December 18, 2014 Share #6 Posted December 18, 2014 It looks like the 1905 enlisted mans pistol lanyard
doyler Posted December 18, 2014 Share #7 Posted December 18, 2014 Thats what I was thinking. Its a earlier model seeing it has the leather divider with rivit which isnt on later ones I have seen
rayg Posted December 24, 2014 Share #8 Posted December 24, 2014 I'm not so sure what it is. It's different then the standard US RIA arsenal 03 lanyard. Here's a 1905 dated one I have. You can see it has no rivets and is well marked RIA 1905. I would suspect that any US one would carry a makers name and date on it as does the Pattern 1905,1917,and 1942, lanyards do. From what I can see of the photo, the clip looks right as does the cord but would need some close -up shots of both to confirm that. Ray
rayg Posted December 24, 2014 Share #9 Posted December 24, 2014 Here's a bunch of guesses that it might be, a prototype, or a earlier version with the rivets eliminated later because of cost or maybe the opposite, a later one rivets used to eliminate a lot of sewing or maybe a repaired one. Who knows but it's interesting. But minus the repair guess, you would think it would have something stamped on it if arsenal done or contracted out.
