Military Ammunition Sled ?

I saw this the other day. Advertised as a military ammunition sled. Anyone have any idea if this is US military or of what vintage it may be? Being red, it seems like it would be more of a towed target in the snow. Just found it to be an interesting item nonetheless.

Thanks,

Z

You nailed it. That's it! It is kinda interesting. Not much snow around here to put it to any good use, however.

Thanks Robin!

I know I am reviving an old thread here, but I just inherited 2 of these (minus the canvas tow straps) and was wondering if there is any value to these? They seem to be in good condition. I just am unsure of what to do with them. Thanks in advance for the help.
