ccyooper Posted December 11, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2014 I was digging thru some stuff and remembered I had this bayonet. The bayonet is a typical AFH M1 bayonet that was new in the wrap. What is different is that it has the large circle CP grips. In bayopoints 32 Gary lists these grips on Korean rebuilds and shortened bayonets. I believe I also read a comment on the CMP forum regarding this maker and at the time he was unaware of who or when these were produced. I am curious if any more information has been discovered. I consider this an unmolested bayonet. It came in a Sep 59 wrapper. The label package date is 5/60. The label number is: 1005-731-2054, bayonet, 1 ea RD-A-5/60. No Korean writing on the package. Any information would be helpful in cataloging this bayonet. Regards, CC
ccyooper Posted December 11, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted December 11, 2014 The grips inside of the handle. As with many other AFH bayonets, no other parts are marked. Regards, CC
bayonetman Posted December 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 11, 2014 I would also appreciate information on this maker, as I have not found anything yet. It was suggested this might be a late Columbus Plastic Products mark after they changed materials, but no definite information. It is a scarce mark, MAY be a post war contract for replacement grips. My original information on the makers came from a museum in Mass (I think, would have to go back and look and right now I am just too lazy) where one of the staff had a book with markings used by a lot of companies. At that time I had not seen this logo so didn't ask. After seeing it I went back to check and the museum had closed and their materials had been donated to Syracuse University - I checked with them a couple of times and got the answer that the donated materials had not yet been organized and classified and they had no idea where the list in question was. I had a computer crash and lost their contact information and just have never gotten back to them to see if they have located the information yet.
