Hi all,

I got this walkie talkie SCR-536, also named BC-611.

Unfortunately, the label has been removed so that I do not have more information about this item.

Is it possible to get any more information about this particular part somewhere else? Particularly whether it is US made or not or WW2 or later...

I haven't dared to disassemble it yet and would like to know if it would be worth it...

Thanks for your support!
Philipp

It appears to be a BC-611 C, D, E or an early F model. The A and B had Bakelite rings around the mouth and ear piece, and the later F model has a larger bottom cap. If you open the bottom cap the markings inside should be in English.

Thank you Robinb!

I opened the top and the bottom cap. in the bottom cap I found the attached red label which is in English. Hence, I assume US provenience.

Under the top cap I got to see some components. It looks like one of it is labelled with the "June 08 '44". Hence I assume that this Handy Talkie was issued in WW2 era.

Am I correct with my assumptions?

Thanks

Philipp

I'm not aware of any BC-611 models being made after WW2. Your dated components are actually the crystals. They are dated sometimes like yours.

Hey,

Thanks again. It helps a lot.

However, in the internet I found a picture of a label of a BC-611 being used in the French army. This label is dated 1956.

Looks like at least those manufactured under license abroad can be post WW2...

Best regards

Philipp
