Reeder3 Posted November 30, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 30, 2014 Just depends if you want wwii era or post war. I'd personally wait for a nice one with leather handle. There's a mint Kinfolks ending soon but it's up to $199 last time I checked.
camillus Posted November 30, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted November 30, 2014 yea I saw that nice knife but beyond me. I probably wait because I am realy partial to the leather handles don't know why, I have allways liked leather and wood over synthetics in everything
Reeder3 Posted November 30, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 30, 2014 you'll find one then. just be patient. you'll eventually get comfortable on dropping some coin on something like that kinfolks if that's what you like. some people like the blades that saw combat and were used rather than never issued or were carried by an officer that didn't see combat. Bill in VA Posted December 1, 2014 Share #7 Posted December 1, 2014 Not to hijack your thread, Camillus, but can I make the suggestion that you add pictures and/or screen shots? You're asking some good questions that would be useful to others who are also just learning. Providing only a link, especially to an eBay auction, isn't going to help others in the long run; once those auction links are a few months old, any pictures and descriptions will disappear and your threads will be useless. Just a suggestion...

sactroop Posted December 1, 2014 Share #12 Posted December 1, 2014 Finally: Mike, I'd agree that the asking price was fair. But even with the less than stellar pictures this M4 has some condition issues for sure. Look at the damage to the pommel. Just keep at it you'll get to the point that your confidence will allow you to pull the trigger easier. In the meantime it's really better to miss out on something once and awhile than to accumulate a box full of mistakes.
camillus Posted December 1, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted December 1, 2014 Hi, thanks for the pics I see what you mean about the condition, it is getting easier for me to see some things even repros. question are AKI and TMN military makers or commercial. I have seen M4s with both marks
thorin6 Posted December 1, 2014 Share #14 Posted December 1, 2014 As far as I know, AKI marked M4s are not USGI (I believe they are Korean), but TMN are USGI (made in North Carolina for the military).
