Keith Posted November 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2014 These are for sale locally. I checked Enjmes' book and found nothing like them. Also looked in the forums reference section and saw nothing similar. The lining in one coat is date 1967 so they most likely are Vietnam War period. Anyone familiar with these? (The asking price is $75 for the pair). First photo is of one coat:
Keith Posted November 27, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted November 27, 2014 This photo is of the second coat with the tag on the liner: Thanks!
doyler Posted November 27, 2014 Share #3 Posted November 27, 2014 Second coat appears Canadian? They used slant pockets like that and the buttons look like Canadian as well as the size is typical of common wealth sizing.
Steve B. Posted November 27, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 27, 2014 Neither one looks U.S. to me (but I've been wrong before!). Agree that the second one has characteristics of Canadian field uniforms.
gwb123 Posted November 27, 2014 Share #5 Posted November 27, 2014 Looked up Shiff & Company and found this.. https://www.etsy.com/listing/94599062/battledress-july-1967-shiff-and-co-inc I also agree that the second item is Canadian. It would be helpful to know if there are any kind of manufacturer's tags on the first one. Check the pockets if you do not find one in the collar, or the inseam.
