Jamecharles Posted November 23, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi every body i've found this white dress, it's funny see how the general like to personalize their uniform completely forgetting Regulations. i've spotted in one photo of my collection this particular sleeve ornamentation, i think that was more an habit than a rule, and only a few used those sleeve ornamentation. QED4 Posted November 23, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 23, 2014 I don't mean to doubt you but couldn't this just be a post 1956 uniform when generals wore a 1 1/2 inch cuff braid on all uniforms? If the uniform was indeed made during WWII it may have been updated for later wear.
tsakers85 Posted November 23, 2014 Share #7 Posted November 23, 2014 I don't believe whites ever had the wide band by regulation: http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z299/lanceropics/outubro1/20081015150147ENLUS0152093012240829.jpg
QED4 Posted November 23, 2014 Share #8 Posted November 23, 2014 Yes, officer's have the braid on their white dress uniforms. It can be seen in the 1943 edition of the Officer's Guide and also in AR 670-1 form 1981. Enlistedmen were authorized the white uniform in 1956 and of course theirs do not have it. Whoops, just looked at you post again when I clicked back to the tread and saw you said "Wide Braid" so never mind. You may be right AR-679-1 states general officers will wear the 1 1/2 inch braid on the green and blue uniforms but dose not say anything about the white uniform. Although I still think this uniform was most likely worn later when the other uniforms had the wide braid.
History Man Posted November 23, 2014 Share #9 Posted November 23, 2014 Is it just me or does the braid seem a little high? Philip
tsakers85 Posted November 24, 2014 Share #10 Posted November 24, 2014 From my own collection, 60s era, narrow sleeve braid. http://gouniforms.blogspot.com/2012/08/major-general-robert-george-macdonnell.html

I confirm those kind of wide bands were never authorized, the jacket is made of gabardine silk and there is a number signed inside a pocket i'll report it later. Jamecharles Posted January 21, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted January 21, 2015 Anyone can give a little help regarding decorations? GS
Lee Ragan Posted January 21, 2015 Share #14 Posted January 21, 2015 Decorations would depend on the individual officer. There were/are no standard decorations that would apply to each man. This would entail you identifying the original owner and having a copy of his service record that would list his decorations.
