Hi every body i've found this white dress, it's funny see how the general like to personalize their uniform completely forgetting Regulations.

i've spotted in one photo of my collection this particular sleeve ornamentation, i think that was more an habit than a rule, and only a few used those sleeve ornamentation.

for example one of the most gaudy General, Mac Arthur, used the bullion oak leaf on the white visor but he didn't used those sleeve ornamentation.

I don't mean to doubt you but couldn't this just be a post 1956 uniform when generals wore a 1 1/2 inch cuff braid on all uniforms? If the uniform was indeed made during WWII it may have been updated for later wear.

Yes, officer's have the braid on their white dress uniforms. It can be seen in the 1943 edition of the Officer's Guide and also in AR 670-1 form 1981. Enlistedmen were authorized the white uniform in 1956 and of course theirs do not have it.

Whoops, just looked at you post again when I clicked back to the tread and saw you said "Wide Braid" so never mind. You may be right AR-679-1 states general officers will wear the 1 1/2 inch braid on the green and blue uniforms but dose not say anything about the white uniform. Although I still think this uniform was most likely worn later when the other uniforms had the wide braid.

I confirm those kind of wide bands were never authorized, the jacket is made of gabardine silk and there is a number signed inside a pocket i'll report it later.

ok the only code signed in the pocket is 5965 i don't know if it can help in identify the officer

by the way you have any idea of what kind of decorations could be on the left pocket?

Decorations would depend on the individual officer. There were/are no standard decorations that would apply to each man. This would entail you identifying the original owner and having a copy of his service record that would list his decorations.

Hello again, I've noticed only right now that also General Marshall choose to customize his White dress, this time (for what I can see) with 2 big White bands on the sleeves cuff.

(MODERATOR PLEASE DELETE THE FIRST WRONG PHOTO- Thanks)
