What to do with jacket?

I recently purchased this from ebay (seller is also here on forum)

When i bought this I had a feeling that this jacket could be quite easy to track because not so common name for a US soldier.

3 days ago i mailed to Stephen Sherman and showed picture of jacket and close pic from size tag where was 4 digits stenciled.

A day later i got reply that for digits actually was 4 last digits of this soldier's ASN...

So here comes the problem.

Stephen also said when Mr. Bayer received his CIB, he was SP5.

So i turned jacket upside down and noticed that there has been SP5 rank before but someone have added SP4 ranks later.

All insignia has been on jacket forever except SP4 ranks, should i leave it like it's now or remove SP4 ranks?

Mikko,

Lets see ALL inside sewing please.

Depending on how it looks will determine what should be done.

As you know weird things happen in NAM uniforms and awards may have been muddled coupled with the man being to busy to fix on of at least 5 jackets he was issued.

If you got SP5 ghost marks under SP4 insignias, it doesn't make sense. Regardless of what Mr Bayer's documents say.

Unless he got busted and went down to SP4. :o
