thorin6 Posted November 3, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 3, 2014 Just live with it. There's no easy or unobtrusive way to tighten up the guard.

bayonetman Posted November 3, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 3, 2014 Most older knives with leather handles will exhibit some looseness due to the leather washers drying out and shrinking somewhat. In most cases, the guard is held tight by the pressure of the leather. Depending on the knife the pommel may also show some slight looseness. As thorin6 stated, learn to live with it as it may be difficult to tighten without causing some other damage. Many people try to oil the leather with a high grade leather preservative such as Lexol, but you run the risk of softening the leather enough to make the surface easy to damage. It is a part of the knife, don't worry about it. In most cases the leather dried out due to being exposed to low humidity.
