"Japanese Weapons You Should Know"

This is perhaps one of my favorite series of photographs out of my collection of albums. These pictures were taken somewhere in Alaska. It is tough to nail down a location, because the pictures in the album are from all over the state's mainland. I suspect the owner may have been a medic, as a WC 54 Ambulance seems to crop up in quite a few photos, but I can't really be sure. I suspect these photos are from some time after August of 1943 when this gear would have been readily available after the retaking of Kiska.

Interesting pictures. The wooden box with the half-cut grenades is interesting because someone set bolt and fireing pin of a rifle inside. Is there another pic of such a box with the rest of the rifle in the album?

There is one other shot of the case, but it is just the same case. I am guessing that this case was just a supplement to the complete rifles that were shipped as well. I will try to post some of the shots of the guys firing the rifles here pretty quick.

I would love to get my hands on some of the items from these pictures. I almost purchased a "Knee Mortar" round at a gunshow in Las Vegas this summer, but I just couldn't afford it. Besides, I didn't want any extra headaches from the TSA. I suppose I would be just as happy to have that poster.

A very interesting album. Would like to shot the Nambu Type 11 clip-fed machine gun. Japanese weapons are very rare in European museums.
