CHASEUSA11B Posted October 23, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2014 Hello everyone. I recently purchased this jacket from a forum member and thought I would post it again. I added a pair of white Infantry epaulets and what I believe are the correct gilt buttons. I bought a pair of shiny new condition buttons but I opted to go with a set of worn buttons to match the worn condition of the jacket. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. If the parts I added are not correct please let me know so I can get the proper items. Thanks!!
US Victory Museum Posted October 23, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2014 That looks very nice. I appreciate how you've tried to match the condition of the individual componants, buttons & epaulets, to the conditon of the blouse. It gives the display a degree of consistancy, which I too strive for in my own displays. Ikes Grunt (whom I believe is a member of the USMF) has a set of the early large size enlisted infantry insignia on his web site: http://www.ikesgrunt.com/post-civil-war-militaria.html Scroll down to Item #224 - Rare set of M1902... See if he'll haggle over the price. You'll also need a pair of the early "US" insignia (they have wire loops for the catch of the pins) If you're like me, and you want to accessorize your display the way little girls do their Barbie Dolls, you'll also need a pre-1904 haversack, a SAW era spheroid canteen, Campaign Hat (OUCH!), cartridge belt, trousers, and whatever else that you desire to go part-way, or all the way. Happy hunting! Msn

CHASEUSA11B Posted October 24, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted October 24, 2014 Thanks guys, I definitely like to accessorize my stuff unfortunately the funds are non existent at this time. I do plan on getting a cartridge belt and haversack but I doubt I'll ever be able to afford a period campaign hat. I'll just have to make aa display of a soldier who lost half his gear in combat or a Philippine insurrection era sad sack who conveniently lost his expensive items
