My question is this the cross guard is loose is there a way to tighten this without doing harm? Also i'm new to blade collecting and i paid $45.00 for it was this a fair deal? gunbarrel Posted June 30, 2008 Share #2 Posted June 30, 2008 You "stole" it for $45. The cross-guard is probably loose because the leather has dried up and shrunk. You may be able to treat the leather with Pecard's Antique Leather Treatment, or Lexol and get it to swell up a little where it will tighten the guard.
