MattS Posted October 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2014 Nothing special, slick sleeves, armor training center patch and collar brass, but it was issued to at least 4 different soldiers. Laundry marks include W-2270 (full serial number 36782270, no NARA record found), V-3253, L-8217, and B-3527. I guess they had a really high turnover rate. strawberry 9 Posted October 21, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2014 Yep, I have a few jackets with multiple numbers and names in them. Makes it hard to figure out who had it last.
oldabewla Posted October 21, 2014 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2014 I have a WWII medics are band issued four different times as well with the four different numbers. Craig
Baron3-6 Posted October 22, 2014 Share #5 Posted October 22, 2014 Yeah I've owned at least two that were covered in other people's numbers.....and were ID'd to someone who wasn't in the uniform! As a rule, Ike jackets that have laundry marks are much easier to research because they were worn for a shorter period.
RustyCanteen Posted October 26, 2014 Share #6 Posted October 26, 2014 Inside of the lower right pocket. I'm not sure, but I tend to believe the last two lines in purple ink were done by the same hand. The '2' in particular, has the same slanted bottom-front loop in both lines. Also, I am not aware of any WWII serial numbers mixing numerals and letters together after the last-name letter prefix. The last line appears to read 'B3S(or sloppy 5)2T' which is unusual. MattS Posted October 26, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted October 26, 2014 I read that as a sloppy B3527, but who knows!
