1942 4-pocket that was issued 4 times

Recommended Posts

Nothing special, slick sleeves, armor training center patch and collar brass, but it was issued to at least 4 different soldiers. Laundry marks include W-2270 (full serial number 36782270, no NARA record found), V-3253, L-8217, and B-3527. I guess they had a really high turnover rate.

Yeah I've owned at least two that were covered in other people's numbers.....and were ID'd to someone who wasn't in the uniform! As a rule, Ike jackets that have laundry marks are much easier to research because they were worn for a shorter period.

Inside of the lower right pocket.

 

I'm not sure, but I tend to believe the last two lines in purple ink were done by the same hand. The '2' in particular, has the same slanted bottom-front loop in both lines. Also, I am not aware of any WWII serial numbers mixing numerals and letters together after the last-name letter prefix. The last line appears to read 'B3S(or sloppy 5)2T' which is unusual.
