COOKIEMAN Posted October 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2014 Found a pair of subdued 1st Infantry Division SSIs at a local flea market last Sunday. Both have been modified by hand painting a crossed arrow and machete over the central "1". Anybody have any ideas as to what the modified patch was used for - some special mission, unit, or what??? Steve B. Posted October 21, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2014 The crossed arrow and sword are on the 16th Infantry regiment distinctive unit insignia (DUI). My guess is this is a local, unauthorized modification for a member of the 16th IR, which is part of the 1st ID.
JerseyDevil117 Posted October 21, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2014 It could also have been modified by an airsofter for an airsoft team.
COOKIEMAN Posted October 21, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted October 21, 2014 Thanks for the help, I personally like the 18th Infantry connection.
Longhorn92 Posted October 21, 2014 Share #5 Posted October 21, 2014 I'd say definitely a 16th Inf mod. Pretty cool.
