hirsca Posted October 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2014 I collect dummy/inert/training grenades and picked this one up recently. WW2 era, made by the Littlestown Foundry in PA. Weird top plug where the fuse should be. Bottom plug is not lead and has a gasket. WW2 threads. Over painted at one time with slight remnants of the distinctive yellow band indicated a HE grenade. Any ideas as to what this might have been used for? Thanks, Al.

timmymac Posted October 21, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 21, 2014 desktop cigarette lighter. The remainder of top looks to be missing . I don't remember ever seeing one of the good desktop lighters from any other manufacturer. Hands down my favorite grenade novelyt!!
timmymac Posted October 21, 2014 Share #4 Posted October 21, 2014 The base is slightly different but without a doubt it's a lighter.

hirsca Posted October 21, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted October 21, 2014 Thank you timmymac!!! I will now be on the hunt for a complete lighter top. Don't smoke, but what a great "trench art" item. Thanks again, Al.

timmymac Posted October 21, 2014 Share #8 Posted October 21, 2014 Speaking of pineapples, picked up a nice example of MKI Dummy on EBay surprisingly . Advertised as MKIA1 practice. One I had was in VERY rough shape so was glad to add to US collection. Nite guys.
