bellasilva Posted October 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 20, 2014 After kicking myself for not picking these up over the weekend at a local Army/Navy store, I went back today and picked them up. Couldn't go wrong with the price. The DSA # dates it to 1968. What's interesting is the holes in the left cargo pocket and lower right leg that were rather crudely sewn back together. An extra piece of ERDL camo material was used to sew one of the holes, as can be seen when the leg is turned inside out. It reminds me of the trousers that Bob Hudson posted not too long ago. It's salty as hell and stinky, just the way I like em. So naturally I'm hoping a have a possible Vietnam used set of trousers.

bellasilva Posted October 20, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted October 20, 2014 Here's one of the repairs as seen from the inside of the trousers, where you can see the extra piece of material that was used to repair the hole.

spectre Posted October 20, 2014 Share #5 Posted October 20, 2014 This is very common repair work on ERDL's. Several of mine are done the same. The over-stitching beyond the tear and extra material below was to reinforce it more, otherwise the thin material would just rip again if all you did was sew the edges together. bellasilva Posted October 21, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted October 21, 2014 Thanks for the info gents. Now if I could only ID the owner, which is near impossible as there is only a last name written in marker on the label. Preliminary search turns up a couple "Koeppens'" who served in Vietnam, one of whom was a Warrant Officer killed in a helicopter crash, but that means zilch as there is no first initial or laundry number.
