Sabrejet Posted October 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 20, 2014 During WW2 the US military procured 6x30 binos from several different manufacturers. They were issued to officers and NCOs...and anyone else who needed them to fulfill their duties really. They were still in use at the time of the Korean War. Such binos were issued in a leather carrying-case which could be slung over the shoulder or worn on the belt using the large loop riveted to the back of the case. Some are marked "Case, Carrying, M17" but Wollensak cases were just embossed with the manufacturer's name.
