Ok. This is it. The biggest auction I will be having yet. I should have at least 300 lots available and it is not to be missed. This auction will be liquidating at least 75% of what I have. I am still having items listed and it is not complete yet.

The instructions on the auctions main page say you can place proxy bids with them directly, as long as you supply a credit card up front.

Yeah. That has been a problem for awhile. When I began giving them an itemized list it started doing that.

I tried three browsers on the Mac and the site was unusable on all of them, cutting off the righ side.

The site should be working better and I started delivering lots to the auction house this past weekend. Pieces are getting set out on the tables, and this is a little taste of what you will see. They do not have a buyers premium will accept absentee and phone bids and will also ship internationally. I'm getting excited and hope there will be a great turnout!

So, this is probably a dumb question, but I've never been to an actual auction, though I've seen Barrett-Jackson auctions and the like on TV.

If an out-of-state person wants to bid via phone, do they call in and stay on the line and make bids as the price goes up, or do you tell the person at the auction joint what your high bid is and it operates like ebay?

Nack

It can work both ways.

Some auction companies designate individuals to handle "live" phone bids if they have enough staff.Others will take your bid.

Most auction companies who are reputable will get the item as close to or under your maximum bid. There are those who will start the item at your max bid and if no one else bids then its sold at the max bid.

I was not able to attend but I picked up a couple of nice items via absentee bids.  Wish I had bid on more! Hope you made tons of money and will have another one soon!

It was surprisingly a big bust. I am very disappointed with the results and only got half of what I was expecting. Bleh.

Not to backseat drive, but the auctioneer didn't seem too vested in getting outside bidders....Live auction biding goes a long way and this auction didn't have that. Also, their photos didn't match the order of descriptions, so I was unable to figure out what certain lots actually were called.

I appreciate the feedback. I wasn't able to witness what was going on because my son was sick and at the last minute, couldn't go. I got the final price list in the mail yesterday and I honesty don't want to even look at it.

Hey mmerc20!

Sorry to hear about your results. I'm sure you know by now that a person(myself) did not receive all of the items won by absentee bidding. The auctioneer said he contacted you about the WAC uniform and you set him straight(my interpretation, not his!). Honestly, I think the guy is ok but it's tough winning something and one of the most important items is not there. Out of 3 pieces missing he DID find the hat. I'm at a loss as to how something got "misplaced" like that but I've been to auctions and it gets crazy at times, I guess.

You had some great stuff but I found out that me and one other person were the only absentee bidders!! I wish I had bid on other items just to help bid it up for you!!  Sorry man.

My wife is very happy with the uniform if that helps any. I'm keeping it instead of sending it back. The auctioneer was very helpful but I REALLY wanted the other items!! PLUS....as you probably know one of those items should have bounced your bidding up another $150 at least. If it was stolen before the auction, that means he was not securing the items. If his wife took it to the office immediately after the bidding ended, did she not get all that went with it? Did it find a new home after it was in the office? All we know for sure is that YOU brought it to the auction. And, why did he find the hat when he looked again and nothing else? He was sure he packed ALL of it and then found that hat!

Maybe I should not have noted all of this in the open forum but It's not your fault and I wanted to put out a warning about absentee bidding. This is only the 3rd time I've done this and the only time I had a problem. Like I said, the auctioneer is a good guy but mistakes were made. What if that had been a $2000 item!? Ouch.

If anyone here went to the auction and came away with a WAC Purse and Gloves by mistake, please let me know. I really want them to stay with the grouping.

Btw, at ANY auction I go to it seems that there are people OVER BIDDING items and I can't touch the stuff. Now, there have been two auctions lately with items from members of this forum who have not had good results. Just bad timing or what?

I wish you well, mmerc20!

Steve

I am so sorry about this problems. I had personally layed the items out before the auction and know for a fact that I put the uniform down first, paired the shoes up together and layed the purse and other pieces on top so it could all be seen.

I'm very disappointed they turned up "missing". The purse had the woman's name written inside so that will be key if it is ever found. I'm truly sorry for your issues.

Mike
