SergeantMajorGray Posted October 6, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 6, 2014 Only for small calibers of course but I often hear collectors including vets who wore these say a .22 could go straight through it. I wasn't to happy about seeing the vest destroyed but oh well this is just a video I found btw.
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted October 6, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 6, 2014 Eh, better it gets shot now then in 50 years when it's scarcer.
Martinjmpr Posted November 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted November 11, 2014 Not sure that's a good test, though. The vest is hanging meaning that it swings freely when hit (dissipating some of the energy.). If a person was wearing it, it wouldn't have the room to swing like that. Would have been better if they'd put it on a mannequin.

Most of these youtube tests are far from perfect once a vest or helmet is shot once shooting it again is worthless because the materials strength has already been compromised. Well, it doesn't fairly test the strength lab-quality but I don't think somebody who's shot you once will stop just because your vest is weaker.
