It looks like this is a period piece, made in the early 70's in Thailand ( please correct me if i'm wrong ). Does anyone have an idea who this patch was made for. Both made in Thailand during the years 1967-1972 when the unit was stationed there, unless someone traveled back to Thailand and had these made when the cadre was stationed in Okinawa from 1972-1974. A characteristic of all the authentic 46th SF Company DI shield patches that I've seen will be the blue ink mark on the back within one of the white strips. I've never seen a real one without it (although that's not to say they aren't out there, I just hadn't seen one), and I've also never been able to make out exactly what the mark is or what the letters (initials?) are. What do they go for ? I'll leave that question to those who know much more about the marketplace than I know. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yes, you're correct, they were made for those serving in 46th Special Forces Company Motor Pool. Also a comment to add concerning your question of value: of the 46th SF Co. insignia (qualifying my comment with "in my experience") these two are the most common to find. I had seen these patches for sale, but questioned their authenticity. My father was Motor Pool OIC1971 - 73, and I'd like to get an authentic one to include in a display I'm putting together for him.
