I recently found my late husband's bayonet that had been sitting in unheated workshop for nearly 30 years. He bought it at an army surplus store in the early to mid 70's. It has surface rust from being neglected but all the mechanical parts are in working order. I'm looking for a value as I think it needs a new home. Someone who will appreciate it. I want to find someone local so they can see, feel and touch the piece and not rely on mail and photos. I apologize for the quality of the pics. My camera is very old.

As best I can make out from the pictures, I'd say $175, plus or minus $25. If the grips are reddish brown, that helps the value; if just a dirty black, no real help as long as they aren't cracked.

Thank you. They are not cracked. I'll try to take some better quality pictures now that the sun is shining. I wish I was more into blades. That was his passion. He could hone a knife to real perfection and wanted to teach me how to throw .I'm more a gun person. I never really appreciated military items until I did my family research. Five revolutionary war patriots, several civil war, my grandfather WWI (he had a war room in his basement with many relics you people would love. As a child we camped out in his pup tent), my father WWII and a great uncle spanish american war. I had one of my grandfathers GAR post manuscripts. From their first meeting until 1880's until the last in the late 1900's that I donated to the civil war museum in the state I was born in. I'll see what I can do about better photos.
