siclfde Posted September 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2014 Anybody ever seen one of these. It's on Silvey WWII, pg 202. I had never seen one or knew they existed until I got it off eBay a couple days ago. Looks exactly the same, down to the wrong looking scabbard. Les George Posted September 11, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2014 I don't know anything about it, does it look like a converted 36? Very cool snag!
doyler Posted September 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 11, 2014 I have one.Plated just like this one. Came in a group from a Marine who was stationed stateside. He was older and also quite a marksman so he trained others in marksmanship. Its my thinking these were actually made from tips of bayonets that were cut down. The 16 inch M1905 bayonets were shortened to 10 inch and there were left over pieces. Part of it converted from a 36 and part from a Pal bayo. Almost like they had parts left over. Silvey's write-up says: "The knife below is unmarked but it is almost certainly made by Pal Blade Co. The blade appears to have been made from a model 1942 Bayonet, the guard and handle from a Pal RH36 and the pommel from a Pal Mark 1." Haven't been able to find it in any other references:
