Allan H. Posted September 5, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 5, 2014 I believe that this is a shooting club award from one of the many clubs located in California in the late 19th Century up until World War II. These were more than just places where men went to shoot. They were very social organizations as well. You also need to remember that there were a lot of Germans immigrating to the United States after World War I due to the tough economic times that followed the great war. Remember that this was the era of the 50 million mark notes. Also, when they were filling "All Quiet on the Western Front" in 1930, Hollywood advertised for extras who had served in the German army hoping to get a few veterans who could help with the film. They ended up with two full battalions worth of German WWI veterans. Commands were given in German etc. I think you have a nice medal here, but it is not military. Marksman Posted September 5, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted September 5, 2014 Thank you Allan, thats what i thought when i buyed the medal. It's just very interesting to have one civilian shooting medal from the USA. The german ones you can get for small money and i didnt pay much money for this medal - so its ok.
