kfields Posted January 27, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2007 I also purchased this interesting period photo postcard of 82AB MP troops displaying a found Cuban arms cache. There's a paragraph (part of the printed card) on back detailing the efforts in Grenada. I thought it was a neat photo. It shows the soldiers wearing the recently issued Kevlar helmets. It seems the press wasn't invited to that war so were there many offical photos come out of the event ?
Guest Chris Posted January 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 30, 2007 Grenada was a very hush hush opperation. I was there. We were on our way to Beruit minding our own business, sailing in the Bermuda triangle when all of a sudden we get orders to change course for the island of Grenada. Hell we didn't have any charts or maps for Grenada.
Sgt_Rock_EasyCo Posted October 17, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 17, 2009 Grenada was a very hush hush opperation. I was there. We were on our way to Beruit minding our own business, sailing in the Bermuda triangle when all of a sudden we get orders to change course for the island of Grenada. Hell we didn't have any charts or maps for Grenada. 82nd MP's probably got there after a couple weeks. We were tramping around for 40 something days in the jungle. They R&R'd us in the main city but surrounded us with barbed wire and MP's (like these guys) with orders to keep us penned up. We got out anyway and I hear it was a whacky time. The press came in after a couple weeks as well. They were mad that they couldn't be there earlier and we told exhaggerated our stories. They followed one of our squads for a long time if I recollect correctly. Fortunately they left us alone mostly. I have some jungle fatigue's, a military map of Grenada given to me recently by a buddy, some stationary from the 505th PIR, and odd's and ends. I brought back a helmet and one AK magazine but threw that stuff out a loooong time ago. Rock
