Chris Posted September 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2014 Hi guys. I just acquired from an estate an Air Medal. It is a slot brooch and is engraved simply "L BENGE" on the reverse. The box is a cardboard type. I have not seen the box type or just a first initial and last name before. Can anyone give me some education on this medal? I wish I could research the name! Thanks
Chris Posted September 2, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted September 2, 2014 This is a wrap brooch by the way.

Chris Posted September 2, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted September 2, 2014 If there was a tag or label, it's gone. So no info of any sort.
flyboy53 Posted September 20, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 20, 2014 This is a post World War II field decoration set -- meaning that it was presented in the field and I would suspect the engraving was done afterward by the member. One of the Commendation Medals that I received in the Air Force came in a simple blue box (like a service medal) without a ribbon bar and lapel pin. atb Posted September 20, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 20, 2014 The same type of box for the Air Medal I have has a label with a Vietnam Era date in the 1960's.
