KurtA Posted August 30, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 30, 2014 While driving through Vermont this past Sunday afternoon, my father stopped in at a flea market and found this for $5. Based on some quick internet research, this jacket was worn in the 1967/68 timeframe by Lt. Robert P. Fuscaldo while serving in Vietnam. He served on board LST-838 USS Hunterdon County and commanded a river patrol squadron. Was awarded the Bronze Star with V. He eventually retired from the USN as a captain. Besides the really nice theater made shoulder patch, the Lt bars are also VN-made. (They are actually Army Captain bars being that they have the indented bar connectors.) KurtA Posted August 31, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted August 31, 2014 wow. Your dad is an awesome picker! Glad he didn't pass it up as 'too modern'. He called me up while looking at it and asked if he should buy it. As soon as he said the words "River Patrol", I yelled YES!! into the phone. That was last Sunday. I had to wait until today (when he returned home) to see if it really was what I hoped it would be.

fusfus2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Share #11 Posted November 11, 2017 Hello KurtA - happy Veterans Day. I was doing some research today to see what I could find about my father (Robert Patrick Fuscaldo, USN Capt Ret) and his time in Vietnam. He - like most Vietnam vets - has always been very quiet on the topic and never shared anything about his time there. During my research, I came across this post (much to my shock) to see you had found my father's uniform from Vietnam. I know this post is three years old, but I'm hoping this message reaches you to see if you would ever be willing to sell the uniform for my family to keep as a piece of our family history. Hoping you respond. All the best - the Fuscaldo family
