CNY Militaria Posted August 29, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 29, 2014 Just picked this up recently and wanted to show. Unnamed New York Guard officer's jacket from a twice wounded WWI 2nd Infantry Division Veteran. The ribbon bar is screwback and plastic coated! I only wish it was named as it would be easier to keep! BEAST Posted August 30, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 30, 2014 Last year, we ran an article in AAMUC's FOOTLOCKER that featured a New York State Guard officer's uniform. According to the article, the blue cuff stripe indicated that he was an officer serving with the State Guard. Lot of good information in the FOOTLOCKER; ought to consider joining AAMUC! Nice coat, by the way!

dan Posted August 30, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 30, 2014 Beautiful uniform! I have seen the same blue cuff stripe on Maine State Guard uniforms. I assume most if not all State Guards used it on their officers uniforms.

patches Posted September 3, 2014 Share #11 Posted September 3, 2014 We noticed the buttons are with the NYS seal, was this done with all SG Class A uniforms no matter the state? did both Officer and Enlisted men of State Guard units have their state seal on their buttons rather than the common Eagle button of the Army? 501stGeronimo Posted October 10, 2014 Share #13 Posted October 10, 2014 The blue stripe on the cuff was used by state guards. My Missouri guard uniforms all have blue, stripes.

I believe State Guard organizations mostly use the state seal on buttons and other insignia as they are prohibited from using the Federal eagle design (or the "U.S.") . Right, thank's atb, kinda of like in the more contemporary era ( mid 50s up to the present) of not having a U.S. ARMY tape on fatique items. 501stGeronimo Posted October 11, 2014 Share #16 Posted October 11, 2014 No, some did, some didn't. My Missouri have normal eagle buttons, but the blue cuff braid.
atb Posted October 11, 2014 Share #17 Posted October 11, 2014 No, some did, some didn't. My Missouri have normal eagle buttons, but the blue cuff braid. I think it depends on time period. I believe current regulations call for non-Federal insignia to be used.

jdamaso111 Posted October 12, 2014 Share #19 Posted October 12, 2014 Would he still be authorized two wound stripes while wearing the purple heart ribbon with oakleaf?

jdamaso111 Posted October 12, 2014 Share #21 Posted October 12, 2014 Those are overseas stripes. I figured that seeing how he had two stripes on each sleve would repersent two wounds and a year overseas.
